Born in New York, Michael Green received his BA from New York University. He attended film school there before departing to study at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. He was a contentious objector during the Vietnam War. He joined the legendary Castalia Foundation, worked on germinal light shows with Timothy Leary and in 1967 moved with the group to an area of protected land to experience communal living. In Pennsylvania, he studied with Sufi master Bawa Muhaiyaddeen. He put together an eclectic career as a wandering monk, and finally as an illustrator, artist and writer.
He currently lives in Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley with his wife, Sally, where he is slowly turning an old barn into a multi-level exhibit space.
