Jan Lars Jensen grew up in Yarrow, B.C., Canada. His first novel, Shiva 3000, was published by Harcourt in North America and Macmillan in the U.K. to glowing reviews. It is set in a future that has given rise to deities and demons of Hindu mythology but lost comprehension of the technology which produced them.
His story "The Secret History of the Ornithopter," an alternate history supposing early success with flapping-wing flying machines, was nominated for a Hugo award in 2000. Other stories have appeared in F & SF, Interzone, Northern Suns, Prairie Fire and Geist. He currently lives in Alberta with his wife Michelle, and is finishing his second novel, a re-working of the story of David and Goliath.
